If you, like many others, found yourself enamored with Science SARU’s anime adaptation of Yukinobu Tatsu’s DAN DA DAN manga, there’s a great home video release on the way. GKIDS and Shout! Studios have teamed up to bring the series to Blu-ray in DAN DA DAN: Season One Collector’s Edition, which is currently set to drop with a bunch of extras on June 10.
Just like the standard edition that hits shelves on the same day, this one is spread across two discs, but the collector’s edition version packs the series in a box with a 32-page booklet, art cards and a die-cut sticker. Here’s how it looks:
And here are the on-disc extras:
- Interview with the Filmmakers
- Director Scene Breakdown
- Interview with Composer kensuke ushio
- Commemorative Interviews
- Teasers & Trailers
- Opening Credits
- Ending Credits
DAN DA DAN comes from Science SARU, with Fuga Yamashiro, an assistant director for Tatami Time Machine Blues, helming the project as director. Hiroshi Seko, whose credits include Attack on Titan The Final Season, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Chainsaw Man, is in charge of scripts.
VIZ Media publishes the original manga by Yukinobu Tatsu as Dandadan and gave this description for the first volume:
DAN DA DAN Plot
Momo Ayase strikes up an unusual friendship with her school’s UFO fanatic, whom she nicknames “Okarun” because he has a name that is not to be said aloud. While Momo believes in spirits, she thinks aliens are nothing but nonsense. Her new friend, meanwhile, thinks the exact opposite. To settle matters, the two set out to prove each other wrong—Momo to a UFO hotspot and Okarun to a haunted tunnel! What unfolds next is a beautiful story of young love…and oddly horny aliens and spirits?
