Continuing Anime You Can (Sort of) Continue Right Now!

Can't wait for these continuing anime? You don't have to!

Great news for fans of at least a few anime this season: they’re not over yet! As the winter season comes to a close, several titles are confirming the go-ahead for further seasons. While we can’t time-travel ahead to the next installment, we can meet these continuing anime where they started: on the manga page!

These three big titles have more story to tell… and you can read that story before the anime premieres! Find out what’s coming back, when it’s coming back, and how you can get ahead.

Shangri-La Frontier

Shangri-La Frontier

Three seasons just ain’t enough for Sunraku! First on our list of continuing anime is Shangri-La Frontier. The ongoing story of a kusoge hunter who’s really good at video games plunged into all sorts of new arcs this season. From eldritch battles with Ctarnidd to the world of competitive gaming, Rakuro and his friends have made tons of progress. And they’re about to make much more.

A third season is on lock. And while we don’t have a premiere date yet, you can still pick up where the anime left off! Kodansha publishes the series, with new chapters uploaded to the K Manga app every Tuesday. You can start from the beginning and read through all 200+ chapters, or pick up where the anime left off!

Shangri-La Frontier is available to watch on Crunchyroll.

Blue Box

Blue Box

Fans of high school sports rom-com Blue Box may have felt a little left in the lurch by its finale. While it’s sweet and quiet, it also leaves a lot of questions on the table. How will Hina navigate her heartbreak? Will Taiki finally confess to Chinatsu? And what about their personal goals in badminton and basketball? Fortunately, Blue Box is yet another continuing anime with more story on the horizon… and more story already in print!

The series is one of the highlights of Weekly Shonen Jump, with nearly 200 chapters already published. Subscribers to the Shonen Jump app can read them all for free, and get brand new chapters every week! There are still a lot of twists and turns ahead, from changed living arrangements to make-or-break games. And, of course, progress on the relationship front!

Blue Box is available to watch on Netflix.

Sakamoto Days

Sakamoto Days

This first outing for Taro Sakamoto, the retired hitman (for varying definitions of “retired”) of Sakamoto Days, felt a bit truncated. Luckily for fans, it’s also on the continuing anime docket. And in this case, we do know when it’s returning: this July!

But even a season-long wait feels like a lot. If you want to get the jump on everything happening with the JAA, it’s all in… well, Jump! The Shonen Jump app also runs Sakamoto Days, with more than 200 chapters of backlog and a new one every Sunday. And this is definitely one you’ll want to keep up with, because it just gets weirder and more action-packed with every chapter.

Sakamoto Days is available to watch on Netflix.
