MAPPA, the studio behind anime like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man, has just announced the launch of a new music label called mappa records.
Its stated goal is to “pursue the possibilities of ‘music × animation’ in cooperation with composers and artists” and “aim to provide opportunities to enjoy the works more through worldwide distribution of music content, CD and LP releases, and live performances.”
The key word for Otaku USAans there is “worldwide.” Hopefully the creation of the mappa records label means more anime-related physical releases and live performances in the States and elsewhere soon.
MAPPA was founded in 2011 by legendary producer Masao Maruyama, and is now run by CEO Manabu Otsuka. Upcoming titles include Chainsaw Man the Movie and the Zombie Land Saga movie.
